Description

Originally from Monterrey, Mexico, Mayela has made her home in Tallahassee since 1995.  Before she came to the United States she received her training in rhythmic gymnastics at the Elite Gymnastics Academy in Monterrey, Mexico.  She was a competitive level gymnast and won several national level competitions in Mexico.

She later pursued dance and received her early dance training at Miguel Zagahún Dance Academy.  Once she came to Tallahassee, she continued her dance training at the Florida State University Department of Dance.  Mayela received her BA in Dance and a second degree in Child Development from Florida State University.

In addition to her studies, she was also an accomplished performer in the world renown FSU "Flying High" Circus.

While in Mexico she danced in many productions with well-known choreographer Miguel Zagahún.  She danced in several more productions with the FSU Department of Dance including Aqueous Myth: Tales of a Water Planet premiered by its artistic director Tim Glenn.  Mayela has always had a passion for social and ballroom dancing having trained locally in various ballroom disciplines.

Mayela has taught jazz, ballet, contemporary dance and rhythmic gymnastics throughout her life.  More recently she has been choreographing for gymnasts and coaching rhythmic gymnastics. She is a professional member and club member of USA Gymnastics.

Mayela is happily married and is a proud mother of three beautiful children, with a girl and twin boys.

Pricing

Recreational class FEES
1- A one-time registration fee of $35 (due when you sign up).
2- Tuition- Monthly payments are due by the 15th of each month. Monthly payments are based on total cost for the season and not based on how many classes there are in the month. Some months are shorter months especially December and January due to holiday break. Our season ends with our kids show at the beginning of April.
-6-8 year olds group (One hour class) - The total cost for the 2020-2021 season (September- April) is: $600
You can pay in full or in 8 monthly payments of $75. If doing monthly payments, first and last month are due in September. Your last payment will be in the month of March.

-9-12 year olds group (One and a half hour class) -The total cost for the 2020-2021 season (September- April) is: $720
You can pay in full or in 8 monthly payments of $90. If doing monthly payments, first and last month are due in September. Your last payment will be in the month of March.

3- Show performance fee of $160 is due in the month of November. This fee is to buy your child's show costume $75, her rhythmic gymnastics show apparatus $65 and a beautiful medal $20. They will get to keep all 3 items after the show.

Competitive Rhythmic
Fees:
1- One-time yearly registration fee: $40.00 due when you sign up.
2- Monthly Practice tuition cost: Each group has a different cost.
3- Coaches competition/travel fees: - This fee covers for coaches competition fees and traveling costs for all competitions. The amount depends on the number of gymnasts in the team each season. This is a one time fee and can be paid in installments as long as it is completed by December before our holiday break.

Other Expenses for the competitive group:
- Competition registration fees- Between $60-$75 for Xcel and between $135-$160 for the Junior Olympic program.
-USA Gymnastics membership fee- $59
-Competition Leotard(s): $200 and up if you need a new leotard. If last year's leotard fits, you don't have to order a new one.
-Rhythmic gymnastics apparatus for competitions. It needs to match leotard.
-Travel fees for you: Parents are responsible for taking their child to the competition.

Recreational Class Information
SCHEDULE:
6-8 year olds group- will meet on most Saturdays (and some Sundays) from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
9-12 year olds will meet on most Saturdays (and some Sundays) from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Our recreational classes always start on the weekend after labor day. Our first two weekends are FSU football weekends so we will begin our class on Sunday September 13.

Competitive Rhythmic
Practice:
Our team girls practice 2 to 4 days a week depending which group they are in. Our practice days are on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
